If you are looking for a really unique, spiritually moving and theologically stimulating devotional resource, we highly recommend the daily postings of Dr. Sarah Hinlicky Wilson and her husband, Dr. Andrew Lars Wilson at their website www.hereiwalk.org. Sarah and Andrew recently completed hiking and retracing the approximate 1,000 mile trek Luther made in his 1510 pilgrimage from Erfurt, Germany to Rome. Sarah is research scholar at the Ecumenical Institute in Strasbourg, France, an ELCA pastor and editor of Lutheran Forum. Andrew is a postdoctoral fellow at the Foundation for Interreligious and Inter-cultural Research and Dialogue based in Geneva, Switzerland. One of their goals is to lift up the historical, theological and ecumenical significance of Luther’s pilgrimage and theological legacy for Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Orthodox and Protestant Christians and their church bodies as we confront the daunting ethical and theological challenges and opportunities posed by modernity, post-modernity and life in the 21st Century. In addition to some stimulating theological and spiritual reflections, the postings are punctuated with some breathtaking photos taken along the way and spiced with interviews and conversations with both noted scholars and conscientious Christians whom they met and with whom they lodged on their pilgrimage. It is a devotional feast worth pursuing.
