Philadelphia Hosts the Gaston County Nutrition Congregate Meal Site in the Dallas Township
Thanks to the generosity and a commendable act of faith in God’s Promises made possible by God’s amazing grace and The Holy Spirit at work in our midst, Philadelphia Evangelical Lutheran Church will host the Congregate Nutrition Meal Site in the Dallas Township made available through the Gaston County Office on Aging and Nutrition. The new site opened on Tuesday, September 21st. About 18-28 people from the Dallas Community have signed up to participate. The program provides a wholesome and nutritious noon meal (Mon. - Fri.) and an opportunity for fellowship for Senior Citizens in our local community, many of whom live alone and are in need of good nutrition and social activity to avoid the perils of depression, loneliness and malnutrition. In addition, the program also provides about 12 home delivered meals to homebound people in the Dallas community and approximately 14 home delivered meals in the Stanley community. The site supervisor, Candace Pressley, is at Philadelphia every day from approximately 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM to set up for the meal and supervise all activities. The program is open to anyone 60 years or older, including members here at Philadelphia. Eligibility is not based on financial status and a person can sign up to participate from 1 to 5 days per week. If you or someone in your family or circle of contacts may benefit from this ministry, please contact the Church office or call the Gaston County Office on Adult Nutrition and Aging at 704-862-7540.
